Ecology of Populations

چکیده
The study of mammalian growth is basic to the understanding of many biological processes ranging from ovulation to senility. It was with this comprehensive approach in mind that Dr. Cheek and his collaborators compiled a most excellent volume which is primarily a documentation of the work of many investigators pertaining to the physiology, biochemistry and psychology of growth in normal and abnormal children. Many of the chapters have been written as research papers and the data are new and often exciting. It is to Dr. Cheek's credit that this mass of data holds together so beautifully.

Population Density,Trematodal Infection and Ecology of Lymnaea Snails in Shadegan, Iran
Two snail species belonging to genus Lymnaea, L.auricularia and L.gedrosiana, were collected from 6 different districts of Shadegan area of Khoozestan. Eight percent of the total collections of the snails revealed the occurrence of larva in them. The prevalence of larva within the snails varied in different districts may be due to different geoclimatic conditions and availability of fresh water...

The aim of this study was to assess the ecological factors associated with feeding by Rachycentron canadum (cobia) in the waters of Hormuzgan Province, Iran. Specimens were collected seasonally from Sep. 2014–Sep. 2015 from the Ferdows-1 survey ship and from landing areas in the city of Bandar Abbas. A total of 577 cobia were collected (340 male, 237 female) (20–161 cm Total length). Our result...
متن کاملGenetic variation and structure of Alburnoides Nicolausi (Bogutskaya and Coad, 2009) in the Joushan and Houzian rivers (Lorestan Province)
Alburnoides nicolausi is one of the freshwater, benthopelagic species with high ecological importance. This fish is native to Iran and found in the basin Tigris. Considering the lack of information on population genetics of A. nicolausi, the genetic diversity and structure of this valuable species was studied in the present research. For this, A. nicolausi samples were collected from Joushan an...
متن کاملMicrobio-ecology and hydro-geochemistry of saline sulfur springs of Ghale-Madreseh, Khuzestan, Iran
Ghale-madreseh is the first point that the saline and sulfurous streams flow into Tembi River, one of the well-known saline rivers in Khuzestan province, Iran. This river is one of the main sources of increasing Karun River’s salinity, which is the largest river in Iran in terms of discharge. There are three saline and sulfurous springs (Shour-1, Shour-2m and Namak Springs) as well as a drinkab...

متن کاملComparative Phylogenetic Perspectives on the Evolutionary Relationships in the Brine Shrimp Artemia Leach, 1819 (Crustacea: Anostraca) Based on Secondary Structure of ITS1 Gene
This is the first study on phylogenetic relationships in the genus Artemia Leach, 1819 using the pattern and sequence of secondary structures of internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1). Significant intraspecific variation in the secondary structure of ITS1 rRNA was found in Artemia tibetiana. In the phylogenetic tree based on joined primary and secondary structure sequences, Artemia urmiana and pa...
